Strength Training - All Disciplines
And Roller Skiing - Cross Country Only
Program description
GTSSF will be offering and 8-week dryland training program in the 2022-23 season. It will run September 27-November 17 for higher level programs, and it is currently only being offered to programs that include the dryland training component.
Strength Training
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 27-Nov. 17
Where: Alta School Gym
Time: 3:45pm-5:15pm
Cost: Included in program fee (Alpine Race U14+, Cross Country Comp, and Freeride/Snowboard National parents)
Curriculum Outline and Information
Gear Requirements: Running shoes, comfortable pants/shorts, comfortable shirt and sweatshirt, light hat, light gloves, sunglasses, water bottle
All other gym equipment will be provided. Depending on the final schedule, transportation may be provided. We will likely have 2 groups of athletes for the strength training portion. GTSSF will recommend groupings based on the physical development of participants once registrations come in.
Transportation available.
Roller Skiing
When: Wednesdays once mountain bike season ends
Where: Various locations, will be scheduled weekly
Time: 3:45pm-5:15pm
Cost: Included in program fee for comp athletes, $250 for prep athletes and includes the strength training sessions - you have the option to add during registration

Objectives for the roller ski sessions:
The roller ski training sessions will be best suited for the experienced Prep and Comp members that are comfortable cross country skiing and have a foundation of intermediate level cross country skills. GTSSF has 12 pair of roller skis and therefore the roller ski training sessions will be limited to 12 kids. However, if an individual has their own pair of roller skis they are always welcome.

- Improve and refine the skating techniques of V1, V2, and V2 alternate.
- Improve and refine double poling technique
- Balance and agility
- Nordic specific strength
- General fitness
