All Coach Positions Filled for the 2022-23 Season
Teton Valley Ski Education Foundation is seeking coaches for the 2022-2023 season! We are looking for a team players with excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills with a passion for snow and youth sports to join our team. Emphasis is on whole athlete development, helping athletes achieve their personal goals, and building solid athletes by focusing on fundamental skills, sound decision making, mental health, and teamwork. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, coaching, travel to comps, event assistance, correspondence with parents and athletes, maintaining good partner relations, being a positive ambassador for the club, ensuring athlete safety, being a positive role model, and daily, seasonal, and annual planning, as necessary. TVSEF seeks coaches who are good teachers and mentors to athletes.
Most positions are part time seasonal from approximately November-March. All positions will be tailored to match the strengths of the applicant with the needs of the program and other members of the coaching staff. Preferred applicants will have experience working with youth athletes. Compensation includes hourly rate starting at $18/hour for assistant coaches and $25/hour for head coaches, a Grand Targhee season pass (discounted purchase price for cross country coaches), cross country trails pass for cross country coaches, and partial reimbursements for coach development and training.

Alpine Development Head Coach
This position is responsible for overseeing the alpine development program (ages 7-10) and the coaching staff. The program is designed for intermediate skiers to promote a foundation of skiing fundamentals, build greater confidence on skis, and have fun. Participants should be able to put on their own ski equipment and load and ride the lift alone. Guided free skiing and drills are an integral part of development and make up 90% of on-hill training. Fundamental skills of symmetrical parallel turns with rhythm and timing, carving, use of upper and lower body angulations, and the introduction of general elements of ski racing are the primary focus. This position is responsible for working with the alpine race program (ages 7-18). The program is designed for intermediate to advanced skiers. Athletes develop sound skiing fundamentals by experiencing a great variety of terrain. Emphasis is on a variety of drills to develop ability to execute linked, carved turns with all technical components of the turn. Cross Country Prep and Comp Coach
This position is responsible for working with the cross country prep and comp programs (U12-18, 20 kids). Focus is on cross country technique and fitness for lifelong love of the sport and for competition. Responsibilities include coaching at least 2 days/week. This is a seasonal position, approx. September-April. The preferred candidate will have collegiate/national level racing experience, an interest in cross country race support, and/or be knowledgeable about roller skiing. Cross Country Development Coach
This position is responsible for working with the cross country development program (ages 7-10). Focus is on outdoor recreation, an introduction to competition, teamwork, sportsmanship, good body position, balance, and weight shift while skiing in all terrains and under a variety of conditions. Skiers learn skate and classic techniques through practice and games with an introduction to basic training and conditioning to increase stamina and strength. Freeride Coach
This position is responsible for overseeing the freeride program (ages 10-18). The program is designed for strong skiers who wish to focus on all mountain skiing. In addition to good decision making, positive self talk, work ethic, perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship, the focus is on proper technique and consistency when executing maneuvers in the air, and in and out of the terrain park to prepare them for the lifelong love of the sport and for competition locally, regionally, and nationally.
